Over 6,000 engineering students from various institutes in the country participated in the fest. The major attraction this time too remained NFS Endura with over 200 teams taking part in it and 50 teams making it to the final rounds. A new event Burnout introduced this time tested the technical skills of to-be engineers. Each team had to make an internal combustion engine of a car.
Junkyard' was another interesting event where participants were given discarded junk material and asked to make a machine. The 15 teams that succeeded in making a workable model were given direct placement in a city-based engineering firm.
Participants also had a gala time at Blimp where they had to construct a working model of hot air balloon and race on an airborne track.
Besides, there were 40 technical and non-technical events where participants displayed their talents. Technical quiz competitions and paper presentations were also held where budding engineers presented their innovative ideas related to their field of study.
This year's star attractions at Footprints 09 were Euphoria band's performance, noted car designer Dilip Chhabria's guest lecture on automotive designing and Mumbai Dabbawalas's management fundas.
