Vadodara: The industries in the region have embarked on a novel process of recruiting candidates on the basis of the students' performance in the competitions organised during the M S University's Footprints festival.
The member companies of the CONMAT group of companies will be directly recruiting students on the basis of their performance during the university’s festival Footprints.
The CONMAT companies are engaged in manufacture of high-end construction machinery and material handling equipment.
Students from MSU, SVNIT Surat, Vadodara-based Parul Institute, NIRMA and Ahmedabad-based L D Engineering College are participating in the festival.
Nikhil Shinde, a member of the Footprints Organising Committee, said, "During the festival, an event called Industrial Intellect will be held which will comprise a written test followed by group discussion. Only third year or final year students of mechanical department irrespective of their percentages in the exams can participate in the programme.
Based on their performance, CONMAT group companies will select candidates and offer them placements.
I I Fest has highest number of participants from MSU followed by participants from SVNIT Surat.
Ankit Shah, chief organiser of the Footprints, said, "On the first day of Footprints, there were more than 4,875 participants and 15,000 viewers."
He said the fest includes technical events like NFS Endura (car racing), Dreadnought (the participant designs his or her own boat and controls it through a remote to accomplish the target)
